This amazing species is omnivores. Their diet must include flowers, small animals, and insects. Normally these lizards are not very picky and tend to eat anything edible-looking and healthy.
Young sailfin dragons need a higher degree of protein. They should be fed as often as they feel hungry. A rough estimation is around 2 to 3 times a day. But make sure you provide food that easily fits in their mouth.
Your pet will be happy to have small crickets. You can also offer them small shaped fruits and green vegetables topped with some live insects. These omnivores love the variety and can easily get bored with the same food. So it’s better not to stick with a single diet every day.

If you have an indoor sailfin dragon, it’s healthier to sprinkle a fine calcium D3 supplement on the food to ensure a balanced and healthy diet. A good quality reptile vitamin supplement can also do the trick.
Insects, mice, turkey, shrimps, pinkies, super worms, and grasshoppers all are good to go in their mouth. These are not only appreciated by the sailfin dragons but are also protein enriched. Just make sure newborn insects and mice are not a part of their diet. They are quite fatty, and you don’t want to raise a lizard growing up with fatty liver disease.
